Here are a few of the ways our community is supported. Let us know if you’d like to be a part of the joy that is service.
Adult Bible Study is held the 2nd and 4th Tuesday evenings at 7:00 pm, currently at Salem Lutheran Church in Jonesboro, and is led by Pastor Mark Hasty.
Children’s Church is held each Sunday immediately following the children’s sermon. The children meet downstairs in a safe and secure room with one of our adult teachers. Children’s Church does not meet during the summer months at this time. It will start up again in September.
Confirmation classes are held in conjunction with another Lutheran congregation in the area. We meet each Wednesday at 4:00 – 5:30 pm during the school year. All 6th, 7th and 8th grade students are invited to participate in the two-year Confirmation program. We are using the Here We Stand curriculum: this year’s focus is on the Bible and next year’s focus will be on the Small Catechism.
Vacation Bible School is held for one week in July each year. Children age 3 through those who have completed 6th grade are invited to participate. Activities include music, games, crafts, and storytelling.
YAMMS – The Junior and Senior High youth group (Young Apostles at Mount Moriah) meets on the second Sunday of every month for fellowship with our Pastor. Youth plan activities and fundraising opportunities.
The Choir rehearses on Wednesday during the school year from 4:00 to 5:00 pm. The choir, led by Mary Jane Edmonds, sings anthems and sometimes helps lead the liturgy during Sunday morning worship services and other special services. The choir is always seeking new voices! Come and make a joyful noise!
Men’s group meets the first Monday of every month at 5:30 pm in the church parking lot, where they carpool to a restaurant for fellowship.
The women of Mt. Moriah have two monthly gatherings. The Hands Of Faith group meets on the 2nd Tuesday of the month for quilting for Lutheran World Relief and community outreach. On the 3rd Tuesday at 5 pm we meet at the church to have Ladies Night Out at a local restaurant. A good time is had by all, and ALL are invited!
